The New Forest District Council Tories are making large profits from car parking charges. In the financial year 2013/14 the profits were over £1m.
The 1984 Road Traffic Regulation Act requires that charges can only be used for transport related costs and cannot be treated as a “Cash cow.”
The Lib Dem team support the survival of our town and village centres, especially in these difficult financial times. We believe that local households should receive a free car parking pass in order to encourage locals to shop locally and support our shops and businesses.
