What is Community Safety?
Community Safety is all about a partnership with the police to prevent or reduce crime and anti-social behaviour. Â In the New Forest Area the anti-social behaviour aspect is taken on by Accredited Community Safety Officers or ACSOs. Â These ACSOs report directly to Town & Parish councils. Â Elsewhere in the country the role is performed by Police Community Support Officers or PCSOs. Â The PCSO responsibility is closer to the police in that although they are part funded by Town & Parish councils, the PCSOs report directly to the police and will receive their work duties from the 101 non-crime-in-progress calls made by the public.
